Hello!
I’m Gina, a designer-turned-storyteller from Seattle with roots in Philly. I love using audio to bring stories to life. I’ve reported for WHYY, a public media organization in Philadelphia, and produce podcasts, videos, and digital reports for CSIS, a foreign policy think tank based in D.C.
My favorite stories are those that uplift minority voices and highlight the extraordinary in ordinary people. I also like plants, Tolstoy, and a well-made instant ramen.
Some recent work I’ve done:
Reported, wrote, and photographed a radio and web story on the Palace of Depression, an oddity in New Jersey
Reported a story on Philly’s hip-hop pioneers to commemorate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop
Reported and produced a community park story which was one of the top ten most read stories of the week
Covered a film premiere which became a story about the enduring impact of a community arts initiative in Kensington, a Philadelphia neighborhood notorious for its drug usage
Took photographs for all self-reported stories and photographed for other reporters’ stories where needed
